UMV Coating Systems AB in Säffle won the Swedish Industry’s Sustainability Prize, 2009 under the category “Innovation and Creativity” at the Stockholm International Fairs, on October 14, 2009.
October 14 UMV Coating Systems AB in Säffle won the Swedish Industry’s Sustainability Award under category “Innovation and Creativity”. The award aims to highlight good efforts in the industry for a more sustainable society, and to inspire others to do more.
UMV Coating Systems has developed and patented a product, INVO® Tip , for coating treatment of paper. The invention regulates how the coating fluid is put on paper. This reduces both the consumption of raw materials and energy consumption significantly while providing a better end product. The invention may, for some paper and board manufacturers, increase production speed up to a third.
- This is an excellent example of how creativity, combined with industry knowledge can create something new that is sustainable and conserves resources, instead of doing as they always have, says Boel Jönsson, editor of the magazine Kemivärlden Biotech, one of the three newspapers that awards the Swedish Industry’s Sustainability Prize.
